Description

Afternoon Kealakekua Snorkel Tour

Availability: M-Sat Approx 3.5 Hours

Time: 2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Check-in: 1:30 p.m.

Our knowledgeable staff will share with you the history and culture of Hawai’i as we travel from the birthplace of the great monarch King Kamehameha III, who reigned longer than any other royalty in Hawai’i’s history. As we cruise south to Kealakekua Bay, we will pass by the kuamo’o Battlefield, learning about the final battle at this site and the Royal Holua Slide, which is the largest and best-preserved in all of Hawai’i.

The British erected the Captain Cook Monument on the shore of Kealakekua Bay to commemorate this site as the place that Captain James Cook initially made landfall in Hawai’i, which also was the place that he perished. The bay itself holds a fascinating history of festivals, gods and is a sacred place for Hawaiians.

The waters off the Kona Coast, from Keauhou to Kealakekua Bay, enjoy some of the calmest water conditions throughout the day in Hawai’i – protected from stronger easterly winds by Hualalai Mountain. As we head south, Kealakekua Bay’s waters offer some of the best visibility in the entire state and a wealth of tropical reefs to explore. We provide guidance, snorkel gear, flotation devices, and also have a high dive and two 15 foot water slides so that you can enjoy this fantastic site to its max for the afternoon! The cruise lasts for 3-½ hours after departing from Keauhou Bay, including 1-½ hours to snorkel in Kealakekua Bay.

Snacks will be provided including island-made sweet potato chips & fresh pineapple.

Our cash bar is open with cocktails, beer, and wine for purchase during the last hour of the cruise.
